Das Historische Lexikon Bayerns entsteht seit Februar 2005. Es wird über Epochenmodule weiterentwickelt. Seit seiner Freischaltung im Mai 2006 wurden 1.386 Artikel publiziert.

Current Status

Historisches Lexikon Bayerns was started in February 2005 and is continually being developed using epoch modules. Since its official launch in May 2006, 1.386 articles have been published.

Erstes Epochenmodul (2005-2007): Weimarer Republik (1918/19-1933)

Als erstes Modul wurde die Epoche der Weimarer Republik (1918/19-1933) konzipiert. Die Themenkomplexe umfassen die Jahre der Weimarer Republik von der Revolutionszeit 1918/19 bis zur sog. Machtergreifung der Nationalsozialisten 1933. Die 550 Artikel dieses Moduls konnten bis auf wenige Ausnahmen bereits publiziert werden.

First epoch module (2005-2007): Weimar Republic (1918/19-1933)

The first module to be drafted was the epoch of the Weimar Republic (1918/19-1933). The range of topics covers the years of the Weimar Republic from the revolutionary period of 1918/19 to the so-called seizure of power by the National Socialists in 1933. With a few exceptions, the 550 articles of this module have already been published.

Zweites Epochenmodul (seit 2007): Spätmittelalter

Das zweite Modul startete 2007/2008. 800 Artikel behandeln für Altbayern die Zeit von den Landesteilungen seit der Mitte des 13. Jahrhunderts bis zur Vereinigung Bayerns 1505 und der Primogeniturordnung 1506. Für Franken und Schwaben beginnt der Zeitraum mit dem Ende des Interregnums 1273 und endet um 1500 vor Reformation und Bauernkrieg. Seit Herbst 2008 werden die Beiträge sukzessive veröffentlicht.

Second epoch module (since 2007): Late Middle Ages

The second module consisting of 800 articles started in 2007/2008. For Altbayern (i.e. the area comprising Upper and Lower Bavaria as well as the Upper Palatinate, which are the oldest parts of modern Bavaria), the period spans from the partitions of the territory since the middle of the 13th century to the unification of Bavaria in 1505 and the Order of Primogeniture in 1506. For Franconia and Swabia, the period begins with the end of the interregnum in 1273 and ends around 1500 before the Reformation and the Peasants' War. The articles have been published successively since autumn 2008.

Drittes Epochenmodul (seit 2008): Zeitgeschichte (nach 1945)

2008 begann die Arbeit am dritten Epochenmodul, der Zeitgeschichte. Es umfasst die Zeit vom Ende des Zweiten Weltkriegs 1945 bis heute. Für dieses Modul sind 500 Artikel vorgesehen, die seit 2010 publiziert werden.

Third epoch module (since 2008): Contemporary History (after 1945)

Work on the third epoch module, Contemporary History, began in 2008. It covers the period from the end of the Second World War in 1945 to the present day. There are 500 articles planned for this module, which are steadily being published since 2010.

Viertes Epochenmodul (seit 2017): Frühmittelalter

2017 wurde mit der Konzeption des Frühmittelalter-Moduls begonnen. Rund 400 Artikel werden Themen von der Spätantike bis in das ausgehende 10. Jahrhundert behandeln. Seit 2018 werden einschlägige Artikel publiziert.

Fourth epoch module (since 2017): Early Middle Ages

The conception of the module on the Early Middle Ages began in 2017. Around 400 articles will cover topics from Late Antiquity to the end of the 10th century. Articles from this module are being published since 2018.

Fünftes Epochenmodul (seit 2018): NS-Zeit

Arbeiten zum Epochenmodul 'NS-Zeit' wurden 2018 aufgenommen. Etwa 200 Artikel behandeln die Zeit der nationalsozialistischen Gewaltherrschaft. Sie knüpfen an das Epochenmodul über die Weimarer Republik in Bayern an, in der die NS-Bewegung ihren Ausgang hatte.

Fifth epoch module (since 2018): Era of National Socialism

Work on the epoch module Era of National Socialism ' began in 2018. Around 200 articles will deal with the period of National Socialist tyranny from 1933 to 1945. They tie in with the epoch module on the Weimar Republic, during which the Nazi movement originated in Bavaria.

Sechstes Epochenmodul (seit 2019): 19. Jahrhundert

2019 wurde mit der Konzeption des Moduls 'Langes 19. Jahrhundert' begonnen. Rund 600 Artikel werden Themen vom Ende des 18. Jahrhunderts bis ins frühe 20. Jahrhundert behandeln. Seit 2021 werden die Artikel in diesem Modul sukzessive publiziert.

Sixth epoch module (since 2019): 19th century

In 2019, the module 'Long 19th Century' was conceived. Around 600 articles will cover topics from the end of the 18th century to the early 20th century. The first articles in this module have been published since 2021.
